11" x 8.5", crayon and digital, 2005 For this Fringe poster I drew the brother and sister figures in black crayon on regular letter paper, scanned it, then coloured it digitally. The rest was also built inside the computer. Fringe shows often have such a limited, and sometimes strangely-scheduled run, that including all the performance dates and times into a coherent and attractive design is very challenging. If the final poster size is small (like this one), wordy information tends to dominate.

10 3/4" x 8", ink and digital, 2007 My girlfriend, Krista, and I are watching the first season of " Slings and Arrows " for the first time (we're enjoying it immensely) and I was inspired to look for something Shakespearean to cleanse the palette of all the recent sports paintings. I first thought all I had was this painting but then remembered the Toronto Fringe Festival from a couple years ago. This illustration appeared on posters and t-shirts as well. My concept was obviously an homage to the classic EC Comics covers from the mid-century. This was probably because I was working on my own comic book at the time ( Weak Species ), and had comics on my mind all the time . 17" x 11", ink & digital, 2008 This is the image used as part of the poster I made for Dave Carley's play Taking Liberties , which was in this year's Toronto Fringe Festival. It was a great and complex play with excellent performances by the five actors, was a huge success, received rave reviews, and I was happy to be a small part of it all. I drew Lady Justice in pencil, inked it, scanned it, then used various software programs to make the clouds and colour it all in.
